RIDE FOR 90 MINUTES AT RPE 6-7: Because of traffic on the roads, you may choose to do some of your riding on bike paths. These paths can be dangerous because you're sharing them with pedestrians, inline skaters, and people walking their dogs; but with a little forethought, you can get a safe workout. Don't go too fast for the riding conditions -- save the harder efforts for uphills where you have a clear line of sight. Avoid congested areas. If possible, ride in the mid-morning or mid-afternoon when fewer people use the path. Slow down when you pass other users and give them a clear but polite warning ("On your left.") Be especially careful when you pass people with dogs on leashes. The dog can dart across the path and snag your front wheel with the leash.
