RIDE FOR ONE HOUR AT RPE 6 WITH THREE 2-MINUTE EFFORTS AT RPE 7-8: The best way to build power on hills is -- big surprise -- to ride hills. Plan your route so that, after a flat warmup, you'll ride up three hills that each take about two minutes to climb. Raise your effort to RPE 7-8, concentrating on a smooth, round pedal stroke. Pedal easily for about three minutes between each climb. No hills where you live? Do these repeats into a headwind.
