Day 001 - Welcome to your multi-day event training program!

Rest day        Training via ActiveMail

IT'S A REST DAY: Welcome to your eight-week cycling training program. At the end of two months, you'll be ready to ride three to five consecutive days for 30 to 70 miles each day. You'll be in great shape to complete a cross-state ride or charity event. This program assumes that you have successfully completed rides of about 20 miles (75 to 90 minutes) and finished comfortably. If you haven't done that, sign up for ActiveRoute's Basic Bike Fitness Program (an eight-week program to get you started bicycling) before you attempt this one. In this program, daily rides are based on time rather than distance. This is because the distance you travel in headwind versus tailwind conditions, or in climbing versus descending, means that the number of miles you cover isn't a good measure of the effort you expend. This program also contains daily tips on riding technique, fitness, and equipment to make your rides safer and more enjoyable.
