IT'S A REST DAY: Here's another resistance exercise to help your cycling. Ever notice that on a steep climb or when you're holding the handlebars in the drops and sprinting, you're pulling up hard? Duplicate that position with the exercise called the "bent-over row." Holding a full paint can in one hand, bend over at the waist, and rest the other hand on a coffee table or bench. Your back should be parallel to the floor. Raise the paint can slowly and steadily to your waist. Keep your elbow close to your body. Do 10 to 15 repetitions, then repeat with the other arm. Build up to three sets.
