IT'S A REST DAY: If you've been doing some group rides, you've probably been introduced to a paceline, an organized rotation of riders designed so everyone shares the wind-breaking chores. When you're at the front of the paceline, remember that you're the eyes and ears of the whole group. It's up to you to point out obstacles in the road, watch for cars at intersections, and set the pace. A common mistake: getting excited and going too fast because you're pulling the group. Check your cyclecomputer just before you rotate to the front and maintain the same speed.
