IT'S A REST DAY: Here's another bike fit check to see if your reach to the handlebars is correct. Sitting on a road bike with your hands on the brake levers, glance down at the hub of your front wheel. The handlebars near the stem should obscure it. If the bars appear to be ahead of the hub, your stem-top tube combination might be too long. If the bars are behind the hub, your reach may be too short. Here's a rule of thumb: If you can't ride with relaxed arms and a slight bend in your elbows, you're probably too stretched out. If you hunch up your shoulders, your bike is too short. The quickest fix: a new stem in a different length.
