RIDE 1 HOUR AT RPE 6: Today's steady ride is designed to increase your fitness and let you recover from yesterday's faster pedaling. If you ride when it's cool -- say, early in the morning -- be sure to cover your knees with tights or legwarmers (fabric tubes that slip over your legs and tuck under your shorts.) The standard rule is to never ride with bare legs when the temperature is below 65 degrees. You'll often see other riders in shorts when it's much cooler but they're taking a chance on injuring the tendons and ligaments around the knee.
