RIDE 45 MINUTES AT RPE 7: During this first week of the program, you'll build an aerobic base with steady rides. Your goals are to get used to maintaining an intensity of 6 or 7, to get comfortable on the bike, and to get your bottom used to the bicycle's seat! Some hints: purchase good cycling shorts with a pad inside (called a "chamois"). Don't wear underwear under your cycling shorts -- the seams will abrade your skin. Soften up the chamois with a commercial preparation, like Chamois Butt'R, available in bike shops. Be sure your bike has a comfortable seat. Bike seat choice is highly individual so if the seat that's on your bike isn't comfortable, see if you can trade with your riding buddies to find something that works for you.
