Even if you should ultimately choose not to compete in an actual triathlon, with this training program you are going to achieve fitness. Fitness is different from health. Health is simply the absence of injury and disease. Fitness is a step beyond: it is the ability to perform physically. Simone de Beauvoir said it well in The Second Sex in 1952: Not to have confidence in one's own body is to lose confidence in oneself. It is precisely the female athletes who, being positively interested in their own game, feel themselves less handicapped in comparison with the male.
