Montrail - Susitna XCR (Black) - Women's: Montrail created the Susitna XCR for three reasons: it is more breathable, it is the first completely dry shoe, and it is better fitting. The secret is in the unique EXO construction invented by Montrail and WL.Gore, which brings the waterproof/breathable layer to the outside of the shoe instead of residing as the liner. A completely dry shoe has many advantages, including no weight gain during wet outings, better temperature regulation (warmer in cold weather, cooler in hot weather), instant drying and easy cleaning. It all adds up to better comfort. Montrail took the dry shoe concept one step further and designed a custom gaiter (included) that attaches to the shoe. The stretch gaiter creates a tight seal around the shoe and ankle to effectively lock out rain, mud, and snowmaking the shoe ideal for winter running, hiking, and snowshoeing. The inner-bootie lacing and support system accommodates various foot widths and volumes. The midsole is not posted (the same midsole as on the Masai), but is designed to be trail-stable, so it provides good pronation and torsional control. Dry Shell technology with GORE-TEX XCR creates a waterproof shell around the entire shoe. Innovative design enhances the breathability to the highest levels ever achieved in waterproof footwear. Internal fit construction supports, provides optimal control, and is extremely comfortable. Durable, high traction outsole provides a smooth ride for more efficient running on all surfaces. Nylon cordura knit with 3-ply GORE-TEX XCR upper. Shoe weighs 11 oz.
