Day 027 - Tip # 8: Even mild hypertension can affect your sex life.

Keep exercising to avoid hypertension: high blood pressure not only taxes your heart, but zaps your sex drive, too!        Training via ActiveMail

JUST IN CASE YOUR EXERCISE RESOLVE IS WAVERING: A RECENT STUDY SHOWED THAT YOUNG WOMEN WITH EVEN MILD HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE SUFFERED SOME PROBLEMS IN THE BEDROOM. Sexual problems such as vaginal dryness, pain, and less frequent orgasms were found to be prevalent among premenopausal women taking medication for high blood pressure. Researchers at Bassett Healthcare Research Institute in Cooperstown, N.Y., and at the University of Rochester, also in New York, studied 211 women, ages 21 to 49: 104 of those women had high blood pressure. All were involved in heterosexual relationships and were otherwise healthy. Sixty-seven women taking medication for their high blood pressure and the other 37 hypertensive women who were not taking medication reported more problems with lubrication, orgasm and pain when compared to the 107 women who did not have high blood pressure. The type of hypertension medication a woman was taking did not seem to matter. A regular program of exercise, combined with a healthy diet will keep your blood pressure low and your sex drive high: so stick with it!!
