Day 021 - RECOVERY

RECOVERY !        Training via ActiveMail

Feel like skipping workout today? Just this once, you're allowed; after yesterday's workout you're entitled to a day in front of the TV. Then again, if you're obsessive like me, you might want to try this:

Open Water Training

If you're comfortable with entries and exits by now, and they should seem less daunting after last week, do a few to warm up and then swim a half-mile or so in the open water.

You should ALWAYS swim with a partner and keep him/her in your eyesight. No, this is not for shark protection, but general safety procedure should you get a cramp or need assistance if you lose your goggles/contacts or succumb to any other force of nature.

Practice swimming along shore using landmarks as a compass; since there are no lines on the bottom of a lake or ocean, you need to gage where you are going. Every few strokes, take a breath looking forward and fixate on a lighthouse, or pier, or stationary boat (moving boats won't work). Continue swimming in a straight line by keeping the landmark of choice in front of you, and check up on it every few strokes.
