WALK FOR 54 MINUTES WITH A DISTANCE GOAL OF THREE MILES: Your goal today is to take another two minutes off your three-mile time. If you can't do it today, don't stress; you get another chance the day after tomorrow. For the next several workouts we'll talk about the many benefits of regular exercise, just to help reinforce why you're doing this. First of all, regular exercise reduces the risk factors for coronary heart disease. Exercise slows down the development of coronary plaque (atherosclerosis). It also improves your blood lipid profile by increasing your HDL (the "good" cholesterol).
