Day 023 - Fire up your stove

Cook as many of your own meals as possible; restaurants are notoriously hard on the waistline.        Training via ActiveMail

Tip of the Day:

Everyone knows the old adage "you are what you eat." If you're surviving on a diet of burritos and lo mein, you're undermining a lot of your hard work. Try to eat at home as much as possible. Restaurant food is notoriously unhealthy: even "lite" menu items may be cooked in butter. By preparing your own meals and bringing them with you to work, you maintain control over the ingredients. Not only that, you'll end up saving a pile of money towards all those outfits that will show off the new you. So cook an extra chicken breast to eat at lunch the next day, or boil up some egg whites. Cans of tuna are easy to carry with you, and can be thrown on a salad . Taking those five extra minutes to prepare your own food will add up in lost pounds after a few months. If you must eat out, avoid bread like the plague: it's just empty calories, and will keep you from eating as much of the food that your body does need.
