Day 018 - Rest Day

Rest Day: Training tip-Kinesthetic awareness        Training via ActiveMail

TODAY IS A REST DAY.

Training tip: Kinesthetic awareness is the ability to move your body through space with power, efficiency and grace. Because you take your workouts outside, you're working more than just your muscles! Outdoor training beats any gym routine because it challenges your muscles and your brain against all types of natural obstacles and terrain. Specific types of terrain like hills, steps and sand will boost your endurance and burn maximum calories, and using a variety of terrain will teach you balance, coordination, and kinesthetic awareness. For example, to improve foot-eye coordination, bound form rock-to-rock or tightrope walk along fallen trees. Long, rhythmic strides up a hill will improve endurance, while lateral side-to-side steps will improve agility.

While you are taking a break from your physical training today, put together a list of possible training locations in your area. For example, include parks, grassy areas, playgrounds, the local track or stadium, long sets of stairs, hills, hiking trails, and beaches. Look for props and obstacles like tree limbs for pull-ups, picnic table for sit ups, a bench for push-ups, boulders for bounding and fallen logs for leaping over.
