For: All athletes.
Time: Variable.
Description: A fast paced game of soccer-like frisbee, perfect for 6 to 10 coworkers who want to get a great workout at lunch.
Equipment needed: Frisbee.
If you happen to have an active bunch in your office, or you’re convincing, get six or more folks together and play a game of ultimate frisbee at lunch. Ultimate is similar to soccer, except you have an end zone instead of a goal. The objective is to score more points than the other team.
To Play:
Find a soccer-sized field, although you can make the field any size you want, and mark each end zone with jackets, soda cans or other markers.
The Rules of the Game:
-
One team “kicks off” to the other, similar to football.
-
You must catch the frisbee. If you drop it, the other team takes over from where it lands.
-
Once you catch it, you must stop where you are and “pass” the frisbee by throwing it to a teammate.
-
Move down the field via catch and pass until someone catches the frisbee in the end zone (a one-point score).
-
If while moving, the frisbee is dropped, it goes to the other team, and you’re on defense.
-
The game ends when a particular score is reached, say 10, or you can play 10-minute “quarters.”
-
To keep the game somewhat aerobic, keep moving at all times (unless you’re holding the frisbee).
-
No hitning, kicking or other intentional body contact.
