Power Up Your Shoulders

Here's another way to build shoulder strength with light weights.

Stand up and push your chair back out of the way. Hold a medium-weight book in each hand and let your arms dangle at your sides. Looking straight ahead, raise your arms directly in front of you, pause briefly then slowly lower your hands to your sides. Repeat ten times, breathing in as you raise your arms and out as you lower them.

Got Something More Advanced?
To make this exercise more difficult, either increase the number of repetitions, increase the number of sets or increase the weight. A good way to accomplish the latter is with a set of lightweight dumbbells stashed under your desk.
