Avia - A2021W (White/Chrome Silver/Carolina Blue) - Women's: DCS Ultra(R) combines Avia's Dual Cantilever System (DCS) with a TPU shank that provides torsional support and superior ventilation. A membrane in the shank area delivers maximum ventilation to the arch while protecting the foot from the outside elements. Caged DCS in the heel features an Anatomical Cradle on top which holds the body's natural cushioning elements directly under the body at the point of impact. The Cantilever in the heel acts like a trampoline to provide superior cushioing and stability. Anatomical Cradle improves both motion control and shock absorption by mimicking the bottom of your heel in your midsole. A cup-like shape in the midsole, created through an anatomically correct last, literally cradles you heel, holding it right where the foot's own natural padding and the shoes cushioning will absorb the most impact. This translates into less shock on the rest of the body. The cradle also centers and holds the heel firmly in place to reduce twisting on both ankels and knees.
