5K RUN OR RUN/WALK: Here it is -- the big day you've been training for! If you're racing today, remember that there's always a lot of adrenaline at the starting line, and it's contagious, so you may find yourself moving out faster than you usually do in your training. If that happens, stay focused and slow down to your regular pace -- you just may find yourself passing some of the jackrabbits before you get to the finish line. Keep taking your walk breaks if you need to -- just move to the side of the course first so the runner behind you doesn't plow into you. Another useful tip: don't wear the T-shirt for this event until after you've finished -- it's just one of those unwritten rules. If you're doing a 5K run but not actually entering an event today, you still get BIG kudos for finishing your training program. Your surrogate Mom here at ActiveRoute also says: "Remember to wear your sunblock! Drink your water! Bring your energy bars!" One more tip: most important of all, have a great time!
