TODAY IS A REST DAY. It's a good idea to check your resting HR each morning, before you start the day, but right after you pee. Resting HR is a good barometer of your recovery from a previous training session, it should be fairly consistent. If you find your resting HR is 3-5 bpm higher, proceed with caution on that day's workout. If it is 5+ bpm above normal, consider taking the day off. Take the average over the course of a week to get a good resting HR value. You'll also notice that your resting HR will fall as your fitness improves.
